How many television shows can claim the honor of creating a new term in the English language? "Grey's Anatomy" qualified for the Oxford English Dictionary with its phrase "McDreamy," the residents' term for the hot young surgeon with whom they worked and studied. And original coinage is just the tip of the program's linguistic iceberg as it has remained arguably the best written show on television for more than five seasons. Both narrative and dialogue dazzle in every episode; accompanied by the right music, the closing sequences guarantee a good cry. Enrolled in the nation's toughest and most competitive residency, five young women doctors struggle to survive forty-eight hour shifts and the rigors of a program supervised by five famous doctors who are determined to shape them up or break them down. The women focus on, often obsesses with their careers, and romance, in the words of one viewer, "like take-out pizza, is consumed on the run." Just before the show's 2005 debut, Alessandra Stanley described it as "a Girl Power version of "˜ER'," still the best one-phrase summary ever. All those young girls, and only one McDreamy.

"There are eight million stories in the city that never sleeps," Gary Sinise's unmistakable tenor voices-over the opening skyline shots for "CSI: New York." Apparently, New York's dedicated crime scene investigators also suffer sleep-deprivation, working tirelessly"”some would say obsessively"”to demystify eight million different ways to die in the Big Apple. Sinise plays Detective Mac Taylor, suitably intense CSI:NY unit leader, complemented well by workaholic assistant Stella Bonasera, expertly portrayed by Melina Kankaredes. Together, the lead detectives manage an appropriately colorful team of streetwise geeks and nerds determined always to make their cases well beyond reasonable doubts. Like the others in Jerry Bruckheimer's crime-drama franchise, "CSI: New York" devotes more attention to sophisticated computer work and uber-cool lab procedures than to the old-fashioned business of talking to people. Mac Taylor quickly reminds, though, "We follow the evidence, because the evidence never lies."

ER is a medical drama TV series that ran on NBC from 1994 to 2009. It was created by Michael Crichton and produced by John Wells. The show follows the daily lives of emergency room doctors and nurses at the fictional County General Hospital in Chicago.

From 1927 until 1991 Pan American Airlines was the largest international air transporter in the U.S. When the financial collapse came in 1991 it was only one of many major airlines to either cease business or be sold to another. Today they are called flight attendants and many are males but back in 1963, the setting for TV series Pan Am, becoming a stewardess with a major airlines was considered the dream job for many young women! When new hire Laura Cameron's photograph graces the cover of LIFE Magazine's latest issue it brings the occupation of stewardess into the spotlight and makes Cameron an instant celebrity even though she's only finished her training three weeks ago. Cameron is played by Margot Robbie (I.C.U., City Homicide), Maggie Ryan is under suspension for not wearing her girdle to work and is played by Christina Ricci (Saving Grace, Grey's Anatomy), and experienced stewardess Kate Cameron (Laura Cameron's older sister) has been approached by a CIA type with a special request, is played by Kelli Garner (Going The Distance, My Generation).

Admittedly indebted to Jack Kerouac and the cinematic stylings of Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones series, "Supernatural TV show" wobbled as it took its first tentative steps into the paranormal, but it has grown stronger and smarter with age and experience. Fans of "The Gilmore Girls" immediately will recognize Jared Padalecki who plays Sam, a Stanford undergrad who wants nothing more than to escape his family's ghost-busting business and go to law school. Of course, that's not gonna happen. Instead, Sam gets stuck riding shotgun on a road trip with his profligate brother Dean, played well by Jensen Ackless recently of "Smallville fame. As the boys travel from San Francisco to LA, normally a boring ten-hour trip, they encounter ghoulish and ghostly creatures brought to life from American folklore and legends. Describing steady improvement in the show's writing and acting, one critic said it went from being "a pretty good show to being a pretty great show." Just before the show launched its fifth season, Rolling Stone was more effusive in its praise as it numbered "Supernatural" among its "Fifty Best Reasons to Watch TV".

"The Staircase" is a biographical drama streaming television miniseries created by Antonio Campos and based on the 2004 true crime docuseries of the same name by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade. The show follows the story of Michael Peterson, a crime novelist who is accused of killing his wife, Kathleen Peterson. Kathleen was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home, and as the investigation unfolds, Michael's family becomes embroiled in a legal battle.
