Amarres is a Spanish-language web series that premiered on HBO Max on August 12, 2021. Created by Fernanda Eguiarte and directed by Marcelo Tobar, it is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery Americas, Dopamine and Turner Broadcasting System Latin America. The series is considered the first Latin American program made for HBO Max under the banner of Max Originals to be released after the arrival of HBO Max in Latin America on June 29, 2021. The show features Gabriela de la Garza, Hugo Catalán, and Juan Pablo Medina as main cast and consists of 10 episodes that run for 45 minutes each.

The story revolves around three friends, Ana, Ricardo, and Roger, and their romantic entanglements. The show is a mix of comedy and drama and explores the complexities of relationships. The series also features a supporting cast that includes Mauricio Isaac, Nicole de Albornoz, Nailea Norvind, and Irán Castillo, among others. The series was scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2020 on TNT Latin America, but the release was postponed.

Although the series is titled after a practice that involves love spells, it should not be confused with the actual practice of amarres. The show is a work of fiction and should be viewed as such. Amarres has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike and has been praised for its fresh take on the romantic comedy genre.

Undoubtfully, cinematography has been my passion since a very young age. Even now, watching a new movie or series always prompts me to ask a lot of questions to the author. Thus, every little essay about a title is definitely not a spoiler, but rather an attempt to explore the idea.

Bored to Death

2021
Comedy & Humor
"Bored to Death" seems so completely and consummately the work of Larry David it ought to come with some kind of designer label. Its characters show the same seen-it-all New York brusqueness that distinguished the most memorable characters on "Seinfeld," and the characters sleep-walk through their lives with the same un-self-consciousness as their cousins on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Not surprisingly, therefore, David scored a prestigious nomination for a 2010 Writers' Guild Award. Based on a delectably quirky premise, "Bored to Death" stars Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan, a writer in search of meaning, adventure, and consolation has he struggles through a pretty routine midlife crisis. When his long-time girlfriend dumps him, walking roughshod all over his delicate ego, Jonathan becomes a Craig's List private detective. The New York Times explains, "One of the charms of "Bored to Death" is that the hero, a pothead and screw-up, secretly moonlights as a man of action" at least as much action as missing skateboards and cheating boyfriends can trigger. Ted Danson co-stars as George, a profligate publisher and socialite, who encourages Jonathan's new endeavor. Not surprisingly, Danson shows a marked tendency to steal all the scenes in which he appears. Mid-life man's marginalization probably is the well-spring of Larry David's most exquisite ironies.

Modern Family

2011
Comedy & Humor
Shot in the fashionable "mockumentary" style, allegedly compiled by a foreign exchange student from Sweden, "Modern Family" shows three branches of the Pritchett family tree: Pater familia Jay Pritchett has married Gloria, a much younger, beautiful, passionate and outspoken Columbian, who brings her somewhat unconventional son, Manny, into the family with her. Jay's daughter Claire has married real estate broker Phil Dunphy, and they have three children--Haley, a boy-crazy, attitude-rich high school diva; Alex"”short for Alexis"”a gifted, insightful, but somewhat awkward tween cello player; and Luke, who is cluelessly stumbling through life and elementary school. Jay's son Mitchell, an attorney, and Cameron, his gay partner, have adopted a VietNamese daughter, Lily; and they are adjusting to partnership and parenthood all at once. Together, the family struggles through the predictable crises of everyday life. Spectacular writing distinguishes the show, and its perfectly chosen ensemble cast looks and feels like families who live just up the street. In 2010, at the middle of its first record-breaking season, "Modern Family" collected six Emmy Awards, including the much-coveted award for Outstanding Comedy Series. "Modern Family" also collected a Writer's Guild Award, a Peabody Award, a Directors' Guild Award, and a Television Critics Award.
