Hollow Man is a 2000 science fiction horror film directed by Paul Verhoeven. The story is centered around a group of scientists who have developed a serum that can make a person invisible. The lead character, Sebastian Caine, played by Kevin Bacon, is the first to test the serum on himself. Initially, the experiment is a success, but as time passes, Caine starts to experience side effects, including losing his ability to become visible again. His descent into madness causes him to become violent and obsessed with power, leading to a series of terrifying events.

The Lazarus Effect is a 2015 horror film directed by David Gelb and starring Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Donald Glover, Evan Peters, and Sarah Bolger. Frank (Duplass) and his fiancé Zoe (Wilde) and their team of medical researchers have discovered a way to resurrect the dead using a serum which they have given the codename "Lazarus." So far, Zoe and Frank have only tested their research on a lifeless animal, but when Zoe is killed in a lab accident, Frank decides to resurrect her in an unsanctioned experiment with the help of their research team. Zoe returns from the grave with the help of the Lazarus serum, but begins to display uncanny supernatural abilities. The team then realizes that she may not be alone, and they have unleashed a terrible and powerful evil into the world.

Kelly McGillis from Top Gun and At First Sight plays Leanne Rease-Jones and the old man is played by George Riddle (Flannel Pajamas, The Superagent). As for the plot, Peirce's Carrie is loosely built on the novel storyline with some exceptions which caused King's sarcastic remark "The real question is why, when the original was so good?" Carrie White is a lonesome, shy girl living in suburban house with her religious mother Margaret. Chloe's only friend Sue Snell (persuasively depicted by gorgeous Gabriella Wilde) decides to help Chloe to override her lone status by asking a local dreamboat, Tommy Ross (Sue's boyfriend, by the way) to invite Carrie to prom. Unfortunate prank turns out to be a catastrophic disaster for all those present at prom and for the entire town when Carrie unleashes her powers in devastating act of desperation.
