With a talent filled cast and plenty of inspiring music to offer Sparkle will most assuredly be one to see as well as listen to this year! Starring Jordin Sparks in the role of Sparkle, sounds like an ideal combination. Sparks was named the winner of season 6 on American Idol in 2007 and her career has never looked so promising since. In what may be her final acting role, Whitney Houston plays Sparkle's mom, a single mother with high hopes for her daughter's singing career. The sing together along with two sisters and absolutely sound like the Supremes did back in the 1960's.n original film titled Sparkle depicted a family of three sisters who formed a girl group from Harlem in the 50's but this remake centers them in Detroit in the 60's and is a far better tribute to the Supremes than Dreamgirls ever could be. Cast includes the late Whitney Houston (Waiting To Exhale), Derek Luke (Antwone Fisher), and Mike Epps (Jumping The Broom). Sparkle's sisters are played by Carmen Ejogo, and Tika Sumpter.

Scott Cooper's movie Crazy Heart got two Oscar in 2009, It's a movie with the soul, no pathos, no ostentatious patriotism, just as it is. Jeff Bridges plays such a collective role of the classics of the Nashville Sound. Forty years ago, while still a boy, he went into the army in the end "The Last Picture Show," now he's back with the "Oscar". There are, of course, the obvious parallels with his main "pop-role" of Big Lebowski, but it looks like he selects the role and playing style and maintains this line till the final credits.

Filmed by Chris Stokes with quite moderate even for musical budget of 15.000.000 USD, Battlefield America tells us a story about the hopeless pre-teens that were turned into the professional dance team by the young entrepreneur. You may be familiar with Chris Stokes' "You Got Served", and that means you know what to expect from this movie, because they have lots of similarities both in filming style and in energy of performance. The movie also features many new faces (which is not surprising, taking into consideration the limited budget). Among newbies we have Christian Ijin Link, Camren Bicondova, Chris Trousdale, Christopher Jones, Zach Belandres, Kida Burns and Tristen M. Carter. The rest of the cast may be known to you. Lynn Whitfield which is playing Mrs. Parker is a co-producer of The Redemption of a Dog, and actress played Glenda Hill in 2008 year movie "The Women". Another more-or-less known actor is Marques Houston who played Elgin in the abovementioned "You Got Served". It worth to mention another member of the cast - Valarie Pettiford filmed in Battlefield America as Ms. Williams. You can remember this talented actress as Aunt Geneva from Jumping the Broom. The critics weren't unanimous in their receptions of this movie, but if you like such movies as Footloose, Step Up and Step Up: Revolution you'll distinctively enjoy Battlefield America (and we have to say that your chances are seriously rising up if you are the big fan of Glee, too.)

If you are going to look for that "half", which makes "Nine" more than "Eight and a half", then you can find it in a consequence of the almost complete rejection of Marshall's confessional original. A film dealing with the music industry as deeply as Rock of Ages is worth the watching to listen to all that great music if nothing else. This film also has a stellar cast and some great inside info (make that gossip) dealing with Los Angles in 1987. We meet a couple, Sherrie and Drew, whose romance will be faced by a set of challenges when they meet and discover love at first sight for both of them. Drew Boley is played by Diego Boneta (90210, Pretty Little Liars), Sherrie Christian played by Julianne Hough (Burlesque, Footloose 2011), Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Mission Impossible series) is Stacee Jaxx. Alec Baldwin (Running With Scissors, TV series 30 Rock) is Dennis Dupree. Julianne Hough is multi-talented and also a celebrity dance star from the TV program Dancing With the Stars.ased on a 2005 Los Angeles play Rock of Ages moved on to become a successful Broadway play in 2009. The movie is enjoyable because of the great musical numbers and lots of dancing and singing plus some excellent acting from the cast.
