Following a group of teenage high school students from the fictional Greenbelt high is what this reality type program is all about. The usual and typical types are depicted by a The Beauty Queen Jackie Vachs (played by Jaime King) who aspires to be an actress and even though she has appeared in the TV show The Bachelor, her acting career is going no where fast so she marries Anders the token "rich kid" on the block. The Rich Kid Anders Holt is played by Julian Morris and he has mixed emotions over several girls he has had relationships with throughout high school. The Over Achiever and class valedictorian is Steven Foster (played by Michael Stahl-David) is the son of an Enron executive who was put away (in prison) and all family assets were subsequently frozen. Foster then moves to Hawaii and becomes a bartender. The Brain in the group is Brenda Serrano (played by Daniella Alonso) who planned on being a scientist and was also secretly in love with Anders. She instead decides to become a pre law student in Washington, DC where she also becomes involved in politics. We can all relate to one or more of these fictional characters.

Witness Showtime's smash-hit "Weeds," the life and times of a "proper" suburban widow keeping-up appearances while she deals more dope than a six-pack of Mexican cartels. As in "The Office," the basic premise for "Weeds" is an import from Great Britain, adapted from the British film Saving Grace which showed a widow and her gardener conspiring to maintain the widow's lifestyle by supplying the locals with their favorite herbal refreshment. Critics frequently compare "Weeds" with American Beauty for its exploitation of the idea "Normal is the face we wear to cover how f***ed-up we are." By contrast with "Desperate Housewives," Nancy Botwin, our entrepreneurial heroine, has far more good reason for desperation than her difficulty achieving orgasm; she has a house, a mortgage, two sons, and a reputation. Since Bonfire of the Vanities tanked and "Weeds" flourished, Tom Wolfe may have to consider the distinct possibility that there is no life in Manhattan.

"Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule" is a television comedy series that originally aired on Adult Swim from 2010 to 2016. The show follows the titular character, Dr. Steve Brule, portrayed by John C. Reilly, as he hosts a fictional public-access television show. Dr. Brule, a quirky and often clueless character, explores various topics ranging from food to relationships in a humorous and unconventional way. The show employs a deliberately low-budget production style, using amateurish camera work and editing techniques, to add to its comedic effect.

"The Thundermans" is an American comedy television series that premiered on Nickelodeon in 2013. It tells the story of a family of superheroes who live in Hiddenville and have to balance their daily lives with their secret identities as crime-fighters. The main characters are parents Hank and Barb Thunderman and their super-powered children Max, Phoebe, Nora, Billy, and Chloe.

"Psych TV Show" features slick psychic crime-fighter with no psychic gifts. Unlike most basic cable networks, USA has generated many of its own hit shows on the strength of excellent characters and situations enhanced by exceptional writing. As bigger networks go into hibernation between seasons, USA wisely introduces its powerhouse programming. Among the network's original scripted dramas, "Psych TV show" has become one of the favorites. Walking the margin between crime drama and satire with tongue very deeply in cheek, "Psych TV series" stars James Roday as a fast-talking, exceptionally observant private investigator who manages to persuade the Santa Barbara police that he actually is a psychic. The backstory shows the tension between father and son, and it emphasizes how dad trained Shawn to pay attention to the most minute details, coincidences, and anomalies in everything he observes. Acute powers of observation easily pass for mystic revelations, and a healthy dose of wise-cracking charisma seals the deal. Over the objections of his disapproving police officer father, law enforcement officials reluctantly hire Shawn Spencer, psychic, to assist with solving their most challenging cases. Of course, Spenser and his reluctant sidekick Gus, brilliantly brought to life by Dule Hill, succeed where others fail.

The newest "boy band" to hit the pop music scene is called Big Time Rush and the boys are ready for their chance at fame and fortune. Starring Kendall Schmidt as Kendall Knight, Carlos Pena, Jr. as Carlos Garcia, James Maslow as James Diamond, and Logan Henderson plays Logan Mitchell allows the actors to keep their own first names and a grip on reality. They must move away from the laid back lifestyle they've grown up with in Minnesota and go to the big city, LA. The four boys head to the Palmdale Hotel in Los Angeles, California and enroll in a special actors and performer's only school, the Palmwoods. Boys will be boys and their antics certainly get the attention of their elders including their producer, a hard driving and outrageous man by the name of Gustavo Rocque (played by Stephen Kramer Glickman). A TV series about brotherhood and friendship, Big Time Rush or BTR has a strong following and some great music. Once the season's filming is complete the band goes on a tour to "strut their stuff" before live audiences.
