"Minute to Win It" gives you everything you loved at your eighth birthday party, now with cash prizes instead of cake and ice cream. Recently renewed for another season, NBC's flagship no-brainer game show returns with all the audience's favorite games and a few new wrinkles. As always, contestants will enjoy opportunities to dazzle with their skill at balancing dice on popsicle sticks, flipping pencils from the backs of their hands, collecting balanced balls while blindfolded, and clocking circular steps on a pedometer. In the American version, "["Minute to Win It'] features everyday Americans competing in 60-second challenges with household objects for a shot at a million bucks. But as the money increases, so does the level of difficulty." These strikingly attractive, fit "everyday Americans," of course, have been practicing these tricky maneuvers on their gaming systems and rec room floors, so that they generally will risk all their big earnings to stay in the game; social historians call that risk-taking "rugged American determination." With a million American dollars at stake, the reward apparently is worth the risk. "Minute to Win It" airs in seventeen other countries, comes in a board-game format, and has been adapted for PlayStation and Wii.
