Based on a graphic novel from 2006, Cowboys & Aliens is the latest offering from Steven Spielberg and producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. It takes place in Arizona back in 1873 and we find a loner, Jake Lonergan played by actor Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace) who wakes up to find he has no memories of his past but mysteriously finds he has a shackle on his wrist. As he moves on he discovers he is a wanted man and needs to align himself with the man who runs Absolution, Arizona Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde played by Harrison Ford (of Indiana Jones fame). When it is discovered the shackle on Jake’s arm is a vital clue to his past, he and Dolarhyde must take a stand against a mysterious foe who seems to be all powerful. Woodrow Dolarhyde is the man and he totally rules the town of Absolution as Craig and the viewing audience soon become to realize and his shackle holds the key to solving the mystery. Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde, and Keith Carradine head up a quality cast.
